Joint inter-agency Task Force (JIATF) South Emergency Power Generation System Upgrade. Key West, Florida
- We provided engineering design for upgrading the emergency power generation system for the JIATF South. Work included the addition of two new 1500 kW, 13.8 kV generators; enclosed in separate hurricane resistant enclosures and running on JP-5 fuel.
- Switchgear was provided to control and distribute power to numerous buildings, Fire Pump Station, the microwave tower an the chiller equipment. Each generator is mounted on a double walled fuel tank, at a minimum nine feet above mean sea level, and the generators and switchgear are housed in 150 mph wind rated enclosures and bolted to concrete pads. Fuel polishing pumps with exchange piping guard were also provided. Selected signal an measurements of critical importance were routed to a central monitoring station.
BLDG. 72 Student Services Center, Broward College. Davie Road, Florida
- We provided full engineering (mechanical and electrical) design for the renovation of Building #18 (Bookstore) and #19 (Food Service and Cafeteria) and the design to establish a new Student Affairs Center on the Broward College central campus. The intent of the project was to develop a new Student Affairs Center that would integrate the two existing buildings and the proposed addition into an inviting environment for students, faculty and staff to congregate while providing students with easily accessible, efficient services.
- The center includes Registration, Financial Aid, Student Resources, Bookstore, Food Service & Dining, Kitchen, Nurses Station, Security Services, etc.
Warren Library, Palm Beach Atlantic University, West Palm Beach, Florida
- We assisted Palm Beach Atlantic University in creating their "Library of the Future". We developed the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection plan for a new 86,000 sf library that is high technology, user-friendly campus "living room".
- Phase I features a central 4-story atrium. A cascading staircase connects to the second and third floors. Study areas feature computer stations to accommodate both individual and collaborative learning. Most of the first floor is raised to a slightly higher level to offer th flexibility to incorporate future technology.
- The phase II was the renovation of the historic 1933 octagonal chapel building into a rotunda reading room with an atrium design.
Central Energy Plant, Utility Building & Renovations, Palm Beach County Airport Center Office Complex. West Palm Beach, Florida
- We provided the design for a new Central Energy Plant (CEP), Utilities Building and renovation of one existing 61,000 s.f. building located at the Airport Hilton Center, located on Australian Avenue.
- The existing building square footage was upgraded and renovated to accommodate the relocated County functions, equipment and personnel. The new CEP was designed (but not constructed due to budget constraints) in such a way as to meet the current cooling needs of the existing buildings and be readily expandable to accommodate a future 175,000 sf building
- The renovation work included demolition of existing partition, spatial renovations and infrastructure (HVAC, electrical power, lighting, data, security, and life safety) upgrades.
Southroad Medical Office Building. Wellington, Florida
- We designed the mechanical and electrical engineering for two (2) 14,000 sf medical office buildings. Building C is designed to allow for future business/office occupancy including two stories. Building D was programmed, designed and constructed as a finished, fully operational building including an ambulatory surgical component. We provided HVAC, plumbing, life safety/alarm, data/telephone and electrical infrastructure for the medical offices and support areas.
Palm Beach County Okeechobee Boulevard Branch Library, West Palm Beach, Florida
- We provided HVAC and electrical engineering design for the exterior and interior renovations of the existing 17,000 sf building.
- The new expansion and existing building renovation project was delivered through the construction management method. The construction documents were prepared and issued for review, approval, permitting and bidding as one comprehensive package.
Office Depot Regional Call Center MEP & Telecommunication Systems Design. Boca Raton, Florida
- We were responsible for LAN/Fiber/OSP premises telecommunications systems for tenant improvement (design) services for two buildings (2100 and 2200) in its old corporate headquarters' campus. Also provided commissioning service for another building (2300), acting as the owner's agent to oversee the construction and system installation and start-up.
- We also provided the design for the Call Center building, including communication room layouts, rack layouts, station cabling pathways, cable identification, device identification, project specifications, connectivity diagrams and installation details.
Suffolk Construction Company Headquarters Building Renovation West Palm Beach, Florida
- The new Suffolk Construction Company headquarters building is centrally located in Palm Beach County, directly adjacent to a desirable retail center, residential development and the Palm Beach County Airport.
- We provided HVAC and electrical engineering design which accomplished the owner's requirement of providing an environmentally sensitive building that complied with the basic requirements of the U.S. Green Building Council guidelines for a Certified Green Building. This project achieved Silver LEED Certification.
The Dolphin Mall at Beacon Tradeport. Miami, Florida
- We provided the design for the mechanical & electrical systems for this 1.4 million square feet, two level regional shopping and entertainment center located west of Miami. The mall includes a unique mix of value oriented anchors and majors, satellite stores, a large entertainment component and common areas.
- The entertainment component includes a Multi-Screen Cinema, A food court, and a variety of different restaurants, family entertainment and indoor and outdoor amusements. Our services included smoke management, emergency power, life safety/fire alarm and facilities automation systems and security systems. We coordinated the facility infrastructure, site and in-line lighting, shell and white box design in keeping with the unique architectural and thematic elements.
REVIEW OF OUR PAST PROJECTS AND DESIGN EXPERIENCES BY OUR STAFF
TelePlace (Telecommunications Hotel) Tampa, Florida
- We worked with TelePlace to provide the mechanical and electrical for this building. We gathered critical infrastructure information which allowed TelePlace to purchase the building with the intent of converting it into a telecommunications hotel.
- We continued to work with TelePlace to develop the different phasing scheme necessary to open the facility within 2 months after its purchase, and to have the data center up and running only 4-months after the purchase. We also worked closely with the local utility company and equipment vendors in order to meet the aggressive schedule
- We provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design services to convert this three story structure into a Telecommunications Hotel with a 40,000 sf managed services data center operated by TelePlace. We also provided the design for the (3) 2.5 MW standby power generators, the 4160 Volt distribution and paralleling switchgear.
